More tea Alice?

I have had these Octopode Factory stamps for a while now.  A little different for me but I love that creepy, zombie style personalities these Alice characters have.

How I constructed the shrine is pretty self explanatory from the photo. The John Lewis value range tape measure has been a brilliant buy.  I also put to some use a cracker present of mini playing cards, scrunched up and distressed with ink.

I tend to stamp a batch of images in one go and colour them in with Promarkers.  That way when I want a quick make, I can choose a finished image and easily make a card or two.  I just match the paper to the colours I have coloured in the stamp image with. That's what I did with the shrine, the images were all ready to go so it didn't take long.

From the comments left about my power walk post I gather many of you don't like to get too sweaty exercising.  I'm not a athlete by any means but I do find a brisk walk does my 'happy' hormones a power of good.  Walking in the sunshine is even better.  Yes, I probably do look a little odd powering along (hence the shades and music helps me block out the world). Taking photos in public has always made me feel self conscious too.  But I'm trying my best to get over it and keep on taking them.

What ever you may be doing this week, I hope you get to enjoy the sunshine too.

My power walk route in pictures

I am very lucky to be able to only work part time so on a sunny day like today I was able to take a power walk in the afternoon. With the longer and sunnier days it really makes me WANT to get out and pump the adrenaline around my body. If I am going on my own I always have my iPod on full blast playing a Running Trax beat and my sports sunglasses. It makes me feel like no one can see me....crazy eh?

So my route is a half hour at a fast pace. It takes me from my street, past a little wooded green, though the park and past the all weather football pitch and the bowling greens. Then out and along a couple of residential streets that go uphill. Though the garages and the final ten minutes is down a very long downhill main road which eventually takes me back home.

The the prettiest of routes but an easy enough half hour timed route.

Right while I'm pumped up it's time to tackle the ironing:(

How Red???

How red is red enough?

Since Rob has started college last September, he really has come out of himself.  For a start there's the hair colour.

He started with blue streaks that weren't quite bright enough for him.  Then red streaks.....now it's red all over.

The Authentique bar code edge quotes fitted the subject perfectly.  I also used 7 gypsies paper, string, staples and a 'discover' embellishment.

And this is the result of today's dyeing session.  Unique he certainly is:)

Bonjour

Mothers Day card No 2.  I just love the vintage french feel of these papers from the kaiser craft Bonjour range.

Heart pins, butterflies, doilies, value tape measure and ribbon....are a few of my favourite things.

We had a very nice day yesterday celebrating Mothers Day.  And the desert was heavenly, even if I do say so myself.

Delicous homemade Pavlova.  Hmmm, back to the diet today.

The weekend starts here....

Wow! What a good Friday I have had....and I worked all day!!!
It started with a little school trip to Pizza Express where we made pizzas....so that's tonight's dinner sorted:)

Hmmm, us teaching staff were able to use all the left over tasting session nibbles.  Funny, not many kids like anchovies, olives or capers....strange things. Then it was a afternoon of crafting where we designed our own pizza boxes.  It was bring your mum to school day, so a packed classroom. Thank goodness for my Bigshot.

Then I legged it home and we all had a dentist visit...no work to be done:D

When I got home I was pleased to see a parcel from Sandra at Gotta Craft. Check out Sandra's shop blog and drool at the latest new papers and kits.

A little later, the doorbell rang and these were delivered...

Clarks, pale mustard, soft as butter leather spring/summer pumps *swoon*

If like me you have funny half sized feet that are a weird shape then I would recommend ordering with Clarks  Not only was it quick, efficient and free postage but I could order either on line or in store and any returns can be taken back to your local store.

I have always maintained that I don't 'do' black but it has been creeping into my wardrobe recently and you know what?  Its a great backdrop for all my brightly coloured shoes and clothes.

So a great start to the weekend don't you think?

Soft Kitty.....

If you watch The Big Bang Theory you will be able to join in with the song now. If you don't watch it then you really should.....so funny:) Anyway why am I singing Soft Kitty? Well this song is Sheldons favourite special soothing lullaby for when he can't sleep or feels unwell. As my hairdresser (and family friend) is recovering from an operation that means she can't do my hair for two months.........Eek! I thought it more appropriate to send a card than sing a song. Especially as (Nigel and his Mum like to remind me) that I am tone deaf.

As you can see in the photo my Hello Kitty bubble bath bottle is keeping it safe until I get round to sending it. Love red and yellow polka dots together and the gingham lace trim. A little colour clash cheers me right up.

If anyone feels a little poorly I can be hired to sing Soft Kitty to you at very reasonable rates:)

Take care now. X

Happy Girl

Sunny spring day + flowery bargain dress + red pumps + daffodils + shop mooching = happy girl:)

Saturday, 10 March 2012

Hello:)

It's been a while since we last chatted hasn't it? Don't worry I have managed a little crafting to keep me sane over last few weeks. I have found card making to be a good distraction as they are easy to leave half way through then pick up again when you are ready for more distraction. I made a start on the Mothers Day cards, one down, one more to go.

I will be back soon (I promise) to show you some other cards and maybe an update on the photo 365+1 (if I can catch up a bit).

Before I go, I just want to say a big thank you for your kind messages and condolences that I have received about the sudden death of my Dad. It really ment a lot to me over the past few difficult weeks and were a great source of comfort.
